Brendan Haywood is making the most of his limited P.T. with the Dallas Mavericks

31-year old center Brendan Haywood is now #2 on the depth chart behind Tyson Chandler but he’s making the most of the few minutes he’s getting.  Haywood has played in 27 games (1 start) for the Mavericks so far this year and he is averaging 19.0 minutes, 4.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 0.1 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game.  Haywood is shooting 61.3% from the floor this season but only 50% from the free throw line so far this year.  That’s because most of his shots from the floor are dunks and putbacks.

No time for rookies right now on the Dallas Mavericks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 4:37 pm

The Mavericks have their eyes on winning an NBA Title so they don’t have P.T. for rookies right now.  22-year old shooting guard Dominique Jones will just have to watch and learn as a rookie.  He has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Mavericks so far this year and he is averaging 6.2 minutes, 0.9 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists so far this year.  Most of his P.T. will come at garbage time unless the Mavs suffer some injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Dallas Mavericks need Jason Kidd to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 4:33 pm

37-year old point guard Jason Kidd is looking like a shell of his old self.  Kidd has played in 26 games (all starts) for the Mavericks so far this year and he is averaging 32.5 minutes, 7.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 8.7 assists so far this year.  Kidd’s shooting has been even worse than usual this year as he is only hitting 36.6% of his shots from the floor and 34.7% from the three point line.  At some point the Mavericks are going to have to start cutting Kidd’s minutes if he doesn’t start playing better.
