The Mavericks generally don’t use rookies much and that hasn’t changed this season. He has only played in 2 games this season for the Mavericks and he is averaging 2.5 minutes, 1.0 point and 1.0 rebound. He has only hit 1 of 2 shots from the floor this season. The Mavs likely picked Fazekas with an eye on the future.

Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard have been great in December so far. Nowitzki has played in 6 games this month and he is averaging 37.2 minutes, 23.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Josh Howard has also played in 6 games this month and he is averaging 26.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Look for both of these guys to keep up the good work as they are undoubtedly the best two players on the Mavericks’ roster.

The Mavericks are in third place in the Southwest Division with a 14-8 record which has them 4 games behind the Spurs. Part of the problem for the Mavericks is that they are not playing as well on defense as they were last year as they are allowing 99.6 points per game. Still, the Mavericks are too talented to keep playing as they are right now.

DaSagana Diop is stepping up for the Dallas Mavericks this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 5:54 pm

DeSagana Diop has been outstanding at center this season for the Mavericks as he’s been a enforcer in the paint. He has played in 17 games so far this season and he has averaged 23.9 minutes, 4.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. Look for Diop to even earn more playing time as long as Erick Dampier keeps sleepwalking this season.
