Austin Croshere has been a disappointment this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 6 February 2007 at 12:03 pm

The Mavericks figured they were getting a decent player that could give them quality minutes off the bench for them when they acquired him in a trade from the Pacers. Croshere has only really had one good game this season for the Mavericks and they expected more from him. He’s been terrible at shooting the ball (36.3% from the floor) and is only averaging 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds this season. As the season goes on they may need him to give them some decent minutes so Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki are fresh for the playoffs.

Josh Howard having a great season for the Mavericks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 6 February 2007 at 11:55 am

Josh Howard is having a fantastic season. He’s averaging 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game so far this season. He’s taken pressure off of Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry as he’s been a very reliable scorer, rebounder and shooter for the Mavs. He also gives a real solid effort on the defensive side of the court as he has the second most combined steals & blocks (82) on the team this season. He’s hit the second most three pointers on the Mavericks (he has more than Nowitzki) and he’s the third leading rebounder on the team. Howard is a big reason why the Mavericks have the best record in the Western Conference as of right now.

The Mavericks are taking over in the Western Conference

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 6 February 2007 at 11:46 am

As hot as the Phoenix Suns have been this season, the Mavericks are just quietly dominating the NBA. The Mavericks have won 4 games in a row and 9 of their last 10! The Mavericks are 39-9 on the season and now have a 1 game lead on the Suns for the #1 seed in the West and they have a 7 game lead in the Southwest Division over the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks have been excelling because of their defense as they’ve held their opponents to only 93.2 points per game this season. The Mavericks have held their opponents under 100 points in 35 of their 48 (72.9%) of their games this season. They have excelled in both close games as they are 8-2 in games decided by 3 points or less and blowouts as they are 20-5 in games decided by 10 or more points. If the Mavericks get the #1 seed in the Western Conference this year, it will be hard for anyone to beat them in the playoffs.

The Mavericks don’t use their rookies much

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Reports by Nothing but Net on Sunday 4 February 2007 at 12:12 am

The Mavericks goal is to win a Championship every season so they tend to play their veterans the whole game. 1st round pick Maurice Ager hasn’t played too well as a rookie. The guard has played in 19 games and he’s averaging 3.7 minutes, 1.3 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists. He’s also shooting poorly as he’s only hit 30% of his shots from the floor.

Guard Joe Juan Barea has also been awful. He’s played in 12 games and he’s averaging 2.9 minutes, 0.8 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists. He’s also been horrible at shooting the ball as he’s only hit 23.5% of this shots.

Forward Pops Mensah Bonsu has played in 1 game. He played 3 minutes and collected 1 rebound.
